Secrets from squad 6 - intro

I'm your average everyday colleague, you may have met me, here or there ... I'm not very smart or one of the top 10 , I'm just the guy you smile to, or shake hands with in college while heading to your surgery rounds, without knowing his name. Nothing special about me except for my big body and my friendly smile ... I may have one quality though.

People like to talk to me.

They like to give out their inner deepest darkest secrets to me. I don’t really know whether it’s because I show genuine interest in what they’re saying, or because – as a lot of people told me before – I give this impression of trustworthiness and truthfulness when I promise not to tell a soul about whatever horrifying story I just heard? I’ve been listening to secrets since I was very young, stories about puppy love in primary school, stories of secret infatuation with a professor in prep and high school, and even stories about true love and finally finding comfort with the right person in college. Of course not all secrets are “lovely”, but some of them are filled with hate and anger, contempt and even … murder. Every time I was trusted for keeping a secret, I had to be bound by an oath, not to speak of that secret to a living man or woman or child. Today … I’m breaking free of that oath.
This is my story, his story and her story.

I've always thought he was an idiot. He was a friend of mine, but an idiot, and who said you can't be friends with an idiot? You can , but you'll have to suffer the concequences; idiocy may have severe concequeces that may require drastic measures at times.

It was this monday morning when I met him, "hey Adam, assalamu 'alaykom man, how're you doing?" I said while shaking his hands , it was right after we finished the clinical rounds from our fifth day of the new college year; everybody was actually showing different emotions about reaching the final year of college; for some it was all about getting done with it and getting married, while for others it was about leaving friends and hangin out and going into the pure hell of work in poor and dirty health care units, so some people were excited about finishing college while others weren't. Me and Adam, were advocates of the second party. We didn't like the idea of leaving college that much. And that's why we were a little gloomy, actually we were gloomy enough to decide to skip the lecture we were supposed to attend, something we call a "seminar" and decided we should treat ourselves to a couple of PEPSI cans form the kiosk beside the hospital gate, then lean against the fence opposite to the hospital, and chat a little; usually we chat about what happened through the clinical round, or where we are going to
play soccer this week, so I leant against the fence, relaxing , getting ready to talk to my friend, when I noticed that he was sweating and flushed, the PEPSI can was shaking in his hand, and he looked at me with eyes filled with horror, and said,"Man" he licked his upper lip, looked right and left like a criminal, " I need your help, I did something really stupid, and I'm in big trouble." OOO

Mr. Lucio Baldovino is an italian man. He's very italian. He would do anything for the sake of his country. He drives his son, Massimo, to his school everyday hoping he will go to college and become a doctor and serve his country. He even calls his daughter Maura everyday, to make sure she's studying and taking care of herself, to make sure she'll come out to be a citizen who will effectively serve her country. He was not happy these days though. He had to dispose of his favorite assistant Saverio; Saverio was supposed to "buy off" the portsaid harbour officers last night so that his boss could slip 120 meth-amphetamine fully equipped labs into egypt, but Saverio didn't, he couldn't buy off all the officers, so he desereved the bullet he got in his head.

There's this "mystery man" who has contacted Don Lucio last week and told him that if he wouldn't help them get their lab equipments through the portsaidi harbour and into egypt, he was going to hand out a file to the president of the "Guardia di finantza" - the italian financial police - containing a list of all of Mr. Lucio's money laundery activities in italy, after all, Mr. Lucio was the "capi crimine" - mob boss - of one of the biggest Mafia families in italy, and had to clear out his money constantly. The man also promissed don Lucio a chair in the "camera dei deputati" or the chamber of deputies in the parliment if he accepted to help them out with their little erand, and since don Lucio is a great man with promising visions for his country, he accepted to help them, only for the sake of his country ... nell'interesse dell'italia.

But Don Lucio was unlucky though, as mentioned, Saverio couldn't buy off all the officers, so as a scare tactic, before he came back to italy, he killed the head of customs police in portsaid, and sent a note to the other officers, asking them to cooperate or their fates and the fates of their families will be no different than their boss's.

You might be wondering about the relevance of this story to us, our college or anything ... there was just this minute detail I forgot to mention, that the head of the customs police in portsaid, had a son, who was an idiot, and was my friend, and his name was Adam. 0000

Mayy Khaled is one of the prettiest girls on campus, she's tall, with a perfect athletic body, has dreamy hazel eyes, full lips and the peace and quiet of an angel. She's not too aware of her sublime beauty though, her light brown hair is tied into a simple pony tail behind her head, her simple glasses are tuck neatly on her perfect little nose, and her classy kipling bag is hanging loose on one shoulder giving her the look of a serious student, emphasized by the serious - yet angelically peaceful - look on her face and the subtle blue shade of her -not too tight- jeans she has picked for her black top decorated with urban decorations around the V shaped neck of the shirt. Her immaculate style mixed with her beauty and silence, together with the fact that she virtually has no male friends made her one of the most popular girls in our college.

Every one has a thing for her. But not like Mazen.

Mazen was also a tall guy, but not even nearly as atheletic as Mayy. He was average looking, not exceptionally handsome, but had a somehow friendly look to his face, one that makes you feel warm and fuzzy, and he was a quite character too. He was often described as a dreamer and an artist, and had the respect of his colleagues through his fair judgment and his reasoning, although he wasn't a brilliant student, but his performance had always been enough for his professors. Mazen had a sarcastic sense of humor that almost always succeeded in getting him all the friends he wanted and keeping all the friends he already has.

Mazen was a crazed out Mayy fan. I remember once, we were standing with him, me and Adam, and she passed by us with all her beauty and magic, and Mazen didn't stare at her figure while she walked like most guys would do, because he was too well-behaved to do that, but instead, tears welled at his lower eye-lids and the front of his nose reddened, he looked up into the sky as if hoping to Allah he gets a decent chance with her, and he saluted us and gently left.

Mazen lives in Makram Ubaid street in Medinet Nasr, and he takes the microbus from the autostade to Abbaseyya every morning to catch his lectures and rounds. This morning he took the microbus just like every other morning, and as the driver approached the Cairo International Conference Center in the usual insane speed, Mazen saw this crowd gathered around a microbus that has apparently lost its grip and flipped with its passengers and driver. Some hidden feeling or force pulled Mazen to get down off the microbus he was on to check out what happened, and as he approached the crowd it seemed that the force pulling him has increased and got mixed with a certain sense of apprehension until he reached the crowd and pushed them aside till he made his way through and to the microbus, there were bodies stacked up inside, with sounds of screaming coming from the vehicle, Mazen climbed over to try to help get the wounded passengers out, other guys were already starting to get one out, one of them called him to help carry this wounded person out of the microbus, the guy was starting to lift the lady's legs up, and he told Mazen to lift her from the shoulders, and only then Mazen's apprehension turned into utter fright and dismay when he saw the victim's face, because although it was covered with blood, he could never miss Mayy's face.
